Real Pie Pan

  • Metal pie pan, with "REAL" stamped into the center and sixteen holes in the bottom> The holes allowed steam to escape during baking, which ensured a crisper crust.

Years ago, pies were purchased in this type of tin, along with a deposit ranging between 5 and 10 cents. When the pie was gone, the pan was returned to the bakery or restaurant from which it was purchased and the deposit was given back. Great advertising and recycling before its time.

8" x 1 1/4" (20 x 3 cm). Has the remains of an adhesive sticker on the back, light scratch marks, bits of rust, and patches of discoloration.
