Gold Gilt Wood Framed Circa 1940's Needlepoint Mary with Young

  • A vintage, circa 1940's, needlepoint picture of Mary with a young Jesus in an oval, gold gilt, wooden frame with beading and carved roses.

Needlepoint measures nine and a half inches long by seven inches wide and is framed inside of a one inch wide brown mat.  Muted colors of tan, brown, ecru, blues, purple and flesh threads on an ecru mesh as seen in lower left corner, where some is showing.  With the frame piece measures thirteen inches long by eleven inches wide.

Condition is wonderful for it's age no cracks or scratches in glass. No holes or rips to needlepoint. Frame has three fine hairline cracks. One on the left just above the large rose. One on the right just above the large rose and one on the bottom just to left of large rose.  Also one scratch on upper left of frame that I tried to show in photo and could be covered if you wanted.  As you can see from photo the back paper is fragile and falling off. Frame has an old eye ring on center top back for hanging.

I fell in love with this and I am sure you will also.
